Jackson Hole: The Hidden Gem of Mountain Escapes

ree

Tucked in the heart of the American West—right between the rugged peaks of the Tetons and the sprawling wild of Yellowstone—lies a little town that packs a massive punch. Say hello to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

If you’ve never heard of it, don’t worry—you’re not alone. This spot has been quietly stealing hearts for years (it stole mine) and once you go, you’ll wonder why it took you so long.

Whether you're in it for adventure, relaxation, or a little of both—Jackson Hole has something for every kind of traveler. So here’s your full guide - all the places I’ve visited and enjoyed, broken down by category, to help you plan the perfect trip to this magical corner of the U.S.

Where to Stay: Cozy Meets Chic

Jackson has two main areas to stay: Downtown Jackson, buzzing with shops, restaurants, and nightlife, and Teton Village, about a scenic 20-minute drive away, set right at the base of the mountains. I chose to stay in Teton Village and loved it—it’s peaceful, picturesque, and perfect for easy slope access. I still visited Downtown Jackson (totally worth exploring!), but if you’re craving that true mountain getaway vibe, I definitely recommend staying in the Village.

Caldera House: (Teton Village) This was by far my favorite hotel of the trip—and I have a feeling it’ll be yours too. The two on-site restaurants? Let’s just say they might’ve ruined me for all other meals (details coming up, so stay tuned!). Nestled right in Teton Village at the foot of the slopes, this charming boutique hotel is the definition of cozy meets cool. You’ve been warned—it’s hard to leave.

Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole: Located in Teton Village, this is mountain luxury at its finest. Ski-in, ski-out access with a great spa and a cozy restaurant that you can grab a hot toddy and ski people watch.

Gravity Haus: Perched at the base of the slopes in Teton Village, Gravity Haus is a boutique retreat with mountain-chic vibes and all the cozy perks—heated pool, hot tub, and a killer après-ski scene. Grab a coffee from Unravel, dine at Wild Pine Bistro, and hit the trails or powder right outside your door.

Hotel Jackson: (Downtown Jackson) Set right in the heart of Town Square (Downtown Jackson), this boutique gem puts you just steps away from buzzing restaurants, art galleries, and vibrant nightlife. Inside, expect fireplace-cozy rooms paired with stylish, modern Western décor—think rustic charm with a polished twist.

The Cloudveil: (Downtown Jackson) This hotel brings a fresh, luxury vibe to downtown Jackson with rooftop lounges and views for days.

Fireside Resort: Craving something more private? These upscale cabins offer modern amenities with that cozy, tucked-away feel. Perfect for couples or anyone who wants their own little piece of mountain magic.

Where to Eat – I’ve got you covered on all things food!

Corsa - (Located in Caldera House)

This was my absolute favorite—so much so that I ate here three times (lunch AND dinner!). Rustic yet laid-back, with Italian flair that’s impossible to resist. Who can say no to a good pizza? Trust me, you’ll want to add this one to your list.

Shin Shin: (Located in Caldera House)

Craving ramen? Or maybe some izakaya-style bites? Premium sake and ice-cold beer to go with? Shin Shin nails it with a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes it a perfect après-meal spot.

The Handle Bar: Picture this: a hot toddy in hand, cozy vibes all around, and the mountain action unfolding as you ski people-watch. It’s après-ski perfection—grab a drink and let the good times roll.

Westbank Grill - (Located in the Four Seasons)

I didn’t get the chance to try it myself, but the word around town is that this steakhouse is a must. With killer slope views and a reputation for top-notch cuts, you can’t go wrong here.

Persephone Bakery- This café is straight out of a dream—French-inspired pastries, cinnamon brioche, and a vibe that practically begs for an Instagram shot. Perfect for your morning coffee or a sweet afternoon treat.

Snake River Grill: Rustic elegance meets gourmet mountain cuisine. The steak tartare pizza and the famous SRG burger? Next level. Treat yourself to a refined yet cozy dining experience that’ll have you coming back for more.

Glorietta Trattoria: Rustic Italian meets the Rockies, and it’s delicious. Handmade pasta, wood-fired dishes, and a candlelit setting make this the perfect place for your last-night dinner. Perfect for romantic vibes or celebrating with friends.

Café Genevieve: Set in a charming historic log cabin, this breakfast and brunch gem offers comfort food with a twist. Don’t miss the “pig candy” (candied bacon).

If there’s one thing I absolutely recommend, it’s this: a full snowmobile tour through Yellowstone Park!

Scenic Safaris (snow mobile tour): A full-day scenic safari on a snowmobile through Yellowstone Park completely changed my life. Imagine endless, snow-covered landscapes, the quiet serenity of the wilderness, and the raw beauty of the park—all around you. Riding the trails, spotting wildlife, and experiencing Yellowstone in such an intimate way felt like stepping into another world. This is the way to see Yellowstone.

Spa Day: Not into flying downhill? No worries—treat yourself to ultimate relaxation at The Spa at Four Seasons. Picture this: hot stone massages, heated pools, and panoramic mountain views that’ll have you feeling like you’ve entered a dream.

Summer Alternatives: Visiting when the snow melts? No problem! Swap out skiing for hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, or take in the views with a scenic gondola ride. Jackson Hole is jaw-dropping all year round.

Wildlife: Jackson Hole isn’t just beautiful—it’s wild. Book a guided wildlife safari tour and head out at sunrise for a chance to spot elk, bison, bald eagles, and maybe even moose or wolves if you're lucky. With Grand Teton and Yellowstone right next door, it’s a nature lover’s paradise.

Shop: Stroll through Jackson Town Square beneath the iconic elk antler arches and explore Western boutiques, art galleries, and unique gear shops. Don’t miss MADE for handmade souvenirs, then head to The Rose, a cozy speakeasy with creative cocktails and a vibe that’s as cool as it is intimate.

Nightlife:

A trip to Jackson wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar—yes, the stools are saddles! It’s quirky in the best way, with live country music and a vibe that’s pure Western charm. You have to experience it.

Final Thoughts: Should You Go?

Absolutely. Jackson Hole has a magical way of surprising you—in the best way possible. Whether you’re taking in the jaw-dropping views or shredding down pristine slopes, this place offers something for everyone. With incredible restaurants, one-of-a-kind shopping, and nightlife that’ll keep you entertained all night, you’ll quickly realize just how much this hidden gem has to offer. Who knew?
